It’s small-town mentality that give itself it’s own little charm. Same “mom and pop” store to buy your groceries, and the same park bench you sit in on that textbook small-town sunny day. That corner diner you always go to after a late night show, ordering the same breakfast special – Western omelette, well done home fries, buttered wheat toast. Nothing ever changes, but for some reason, everything still remains good.
Weezer is perpetually embodying “small-town” music recording, releasing the dubbed “Red Album” self-titled album, the 6th album in a 10-plus-year career as everyone’s favorite band. Promoted by the music video of the album’s single “Pork and Beans”, the song takes a satirical, yet charming, look into the world of viral videos. Weezer makes it almost impossible to not like their sound, despite the similar sounding catalog they have offered. Still, as always, they’ve managed to pique my attention with a super catchy single, and a hilarious video to support it. Read Metacritic’s collection of reviews here
